A study in Nature has pointed out how the Homo sapiens fossils found in this region in 1967, are at least 36,000 years older than previously estimated, much more in line with recent fossil discoveries from Jebel Irhoud in Morocco that pegged the earliest Homo sapiens evolution to around 300,000 years ago! The debate around human evolution and the Out-of-Africa theory has received a fresh update, this time from southwestern Ethiopia’s Omo Kibish region.
